The DP4401Ex is a digital ATEX radio from Motorola. A channel capacity of 32 allows for sufficient communications between a team, with the ability to perform both individual and group calls dependent on whether a private or team conversation is needed. Certified for safe use within dangerous working environments, the DP4401Ex can be used in potentially explosive environments such as gas, oil and mining industries. IP67 Ingress Protection means that the radio is fully protected against intrusion of dust, whilst also being safeguarded against submersion in water for extended periods of time.
A rugged design is further reiterated by the DP4401Ex being built to military standards (MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G), covering an amass of environmental conditions, the radio will continue to operate from as low as -30°C all the way through to 60°C. With the DP4401Ex being designed for use in dangerous working environments the radio has many features to help ensure the safety of workers, this alongside GPS allowing for operatives to be tracked to their exact locations, this helping to improve efficiency alongside safety.
The DP4401Ex makes use of a transmit interrupt feature that will relay an important message over any ongoing conversations, this can be used in instances where an incident has taken place or where new instructions are needed to be relayed to a team of workers. Lone Worker and Man Down work in similar manors, detecting the status of radios to determine whether the operative is in potential danger. Lone Worker monitors the activity levels of the DP4401Ex, should it be inactive for a pre-set period of time then a beep will sound from the radio, if still unresponsive then an alert will be sent to a base station or other radios within the network to alert them of the situation. Man Down works similarly, but rather than monitoring the activity levels the orientation of the radio is monitored, noticing whether the radio has been laid on its side for an extended period of time.
Coming as standard with a 2075mAh Li-Ion battery, this will allow for the DP4401Ex to operate for up to 19 hours whilst in digital mode and 16 hours whilst operating in analogue, this based on a 05 05 90 duty cycle. Many additional accessories are available for use with the DP4401Ex, these being ATEX certified ensuring the safety of use within the users working environment compliant with the radio.
